A pretty good Indian restaurant!! If you want to eat her try the bread especially and the bread is cold because they put it in the fridge thats why its cold but its lovely Well done to brothers

Well recommended, always excellent food, best rice Ive ever eaten, great service, very friendly staff - always keen to please. If you want to spoil yourselves and eat at one of the best Indian restaurants outside of London give this one a try!

Visited this restaurant for the first time as my family and I are new to the area. Sadly, our welcoming was awful & first impression was very frosty, and extremely off putting. Our waitresses was equally as frosty. When attending a busy restaurant, which we booked in advance, on a Saturday evening - one understands the dynamics & realises that there will be a certain amount of waiting in between courses, ours however was over an hour before we even received the first course from having popadums. Personally, I found this unacceptable as there were at least 8 staff front of house, in addition to management/owner & bar staff. Extremely disappointed with the food! My madras was awful, never have I experienced anything like it in my many years of sampling such a wonderful cuisine - the sauce was literally watered down with water & the taste was very evident. Mustve run out of sauce in the kitchen! A side dish, of Sag Paneer, as stated on the menu gives an explanation of what it is, (Spinach & Cheese), the menu certainly does not reflect in anyway that the cheese was in-fact cheddar cheese, for pity sake its an Indian restaurant and one would expect Indian cheese, paneer as stated on the menu. When I challenged the fact we were missing the paneer. The poor excuse imparted by the owner was, the English dont like the paneer, so we give cheddar. That I found incredible & damn right cheeky (misleading) and insulting as he referred back to the menu stating that it only reflects cheese, not what cheese and the menu doesnt say what cheese... I found that comment incredible and damn right cheeky, misleading and insulting as he referred back to the menu stating, It only reflects cheese, not what cheese. It should be referred to as Sag Cheddar then, he thought that was his get out clause. Shocking!!! Then he made reference to discounting that dish, that says it all really. Not to make a scene or challenge further about the food and judging by his defensive ridiculous responses we paid our bill as decent people and left.It was a very expensive evening for poor quality food and we will certainly not be going back so not only is this review justified it is deservingly!

I'm not sure what restaurant the last 3 people went to, I have been going to the maldon tandoori for the past 7 years I have always found the management and staff very helpful and friendly. In my opinion you get the service you deserve. The fact that it is always busy is a good testament of the whole experience.I think that says it all.

Whenever I go here I end up deciding not to go again, but relent because its a local business and I want to support local businesses. But that's it now. I was there on Monday. The waiting staff were lovely and the food was very good, but the owner, or manager or whatever he is, was as rude as he normally is. This time, In an empty restaurant we were put on a cramped table for two next to a pillar. I asked to move and was told we were put there to save him work. He eventually moved us but with the comment that the best tables were saved for those who booked (which we had an hour before). At the end of the meal he told my friend that he shouldn't have had the chef's special as he didn't like it. He is letting this restaurant down and needs to focus a lot more on customer service. A real shame as the restaurant should be the best in Maldon, but its just not and its the last 70+ (for 2 with drinks) he will get from me.
