Spacious park, I went to take my kids football team for a match. Plenty of space in the front part of the park nearest the road. There is also a BMX track and in the Summer there is often a fun fair and a splash park. There is a playground there also. There are a few kiosks for drinks, food, ice creams etc. It's worth going over there in the Summer, kids can splash in the splash park and climb in the playground, you can have a nice walk down the promenade and maybe stop at one of the pubs for lunch. There is a sizeable car park which is pay and display.
We had a great time here, in the past, but on our last visit we found most of the playground spaces were under construction and closed to the public. The splash park is pretty basic, but functional. The shops are good and there is choices of chips, ice cream, sweets and whatever else your little ones may harass you for all day while you are there!
I've been coming here for nearly 40 years and have always loved it. My kids do too. It's a great place in the winter to take the dog for a walk and get a hot drink. In the summer it's a fantastic place to socialise and enjoy the sun. They often have car boot sales and fairground rides on bank holidays and during the summer. Their fireworks displays are pretty spectacular too!. They have a new crazy golf area and the place is always being modified and improved. As a day out in the summer or if you have an hour or two to kill this is a great place to go.
The prom is a great place to take your kids for a few hours, walk your dog etc and it's a nice large area that never seems too crowded. There are events on there all the time, a few highlights being the Smoke and Fire festival and the Car show, both of which happen in the summer. There are two play areas for kids, one for younger kids and one for older kids with a pirate ship they can climb on, also there is an adventure golf course there and a water splash park area in the summer (You have to pay for both of these)There are plenty of reasonably priced places to get food and drink there and you're only a short walk from the town so there is plenty of variety. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the car parking costs are really silly for parking in what is at some points of the year, a muddy field, and people end up parking in nearby residential areas instead (Which is not ideal for the local residents)Maldon in general is really expensive for parking, it's more expensive than a lot of tourist areas I've visited. The council need to sort it out but that would require a modicum of effort...
Kids will love it. Cafe is good. Views are great wether the tide is in or out. Lots of parking. easy access to and from the high street with its takeaways. Good Pubs are accessible. And if you are into model boating then here is one of the few remaining model boat ponds.
