Always a pleasure to go there. Cannot fault service or food. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Reasonably priced and they serve almond milk not just the dreaded soya! A great range of different loose leaf teas and excellent coffee.

We ordered lunch and received part of it, no coleslaw or potato salad but a few crisps we hadn't ordered. A tuna mayonaisse, sweet corn sandwich without the sweet corn! I had asked for wholemeal bread for my sandwich having explained that i can't eat granary bread, but that was what was served. So our first visit here not at all enjoyable, although after asking for a refund, one had not been offered, we did in fact get a partial one for the missing coleslaw!! Must be a glutton for punishment going back a second time for tea and cake with different friends, not going to be as bad again I thought, the scones were so dry they fell to bits when we cut them.A lot of improvement needs to be made and we certainly won't be going back again

Really poor. When we arrived there were 2 tables occupied by couples. We chose a table at one of the padded long benches and sat looking at the 2 young staff for some sort of recognition or propt as to whether we came to them or it was table service. It never came, instead one of them proceeded to slouch on the counter! My wife walked up to be told the menus were by the entrance door and that we needed to go to the counter to be served. We decided to change tables as we couldnt stop the one we were at from wobbling. As advertised you'd expect an array of cakes to chose from. We had the choice of Victoria or Chocolate cake! We decided we'd just have tea for 2 and went for the English Breakfast. They only do Tea for 1 so charged 4.20 for it! When the tea arrived it was so strong it tightened the insides of your cheeks and left a really bad metallic taste. So bad that we were unable to drink it. To top it off we had to listen to the ramblings of Radio 1. So much potential but needs refining.

It was OK, nothing to set it apart from all the other tea rooms in Maldon. In fact there were several minus points, like the lack of table service - I prefer to order what I want and pay for it at the end, not have to go up to a counter several times with money.

My friend and I went here for coffee today... very friendly staff and very nice coffee and reasonably priced and very relaxing.
